The way OLD PAINLESS hacked up here on chase debut back in December was impressive and if you can put a line through that last run at Newcastle he hasn’t done a great deal wrong. That second to Bill Baxter at Kelso has worked out and back at this track tackling another stamina test we should see the best of him under Daryl Jacob. The yard form is slightly concerning but he remains a horse to keep on the right side of if bouncing back. Sublime Heights is on a hat-trick after winning easily over C&D 3 weeks ago but another 8lb rise certainly makes life tougher for him here. Innisfree Lad was back to form winning at Hereford and he backed that up with a good second at Wetherby so 3lb higher he should get competitive at least.
15:50 Market Rasen
I know FIRST ANGEL is still a maiden but surely his turn is near now? He ran well when backed in the betting at Southwell to finish third and then back down in trip backed that up when second to Getaman at Perth. We haven’t seen him for 7 months but reappearing off the same mark this represents a decent opportunity to go one better. The yard are going well and he ticks more boxes than most in another weak contest. Marajman continues to run to a fairly consistent level but he was beaten 18 and a half lengths into third at Southwell and I think the fact he is second favourite tells you about the lack of depth in this race. You Say Nothing was a distant fifth at Ffos Las when last seen in November and will need to better that form to get involved.
