Steve Ryder is back with three selections from today's action.
15:40 Clonmel
This looks a weak 80-95 handicap hurdle and I am willing to take a chance on Do Whatever (best priced at 12/1) on his handicap debut. The Jim Dreaper trained six-year-old has shown very little in his three starts so far but this son of Walk In The Park is expected to show a lot of improvement now handicapping.
Do Whatever has form figures of 000 beaten 67 lengths, 77 lengths and 31 lengths when sent off 50/1, 200/1 and 150/1 in maiden hurdles but he now makes his handicap debut off an opening mark of 92. JP McManus often owns horses who show dramatic improvement in handicaps and I expect Do Whatever to do the same.
16:25 Market Rasen
With Storm Dennis an early NR, I feel Made For You (best priced at 5/1) looks overpriced back at a course where he has a good record. The Olly Murphy trained eight-year-old has form figures of 1122 in handicap hurdles here with his latest effort a close 2nd off a mark of 117. He has since won by eight lengths off a mark of 119 at Musselburgh before disappointing in better races at Fakenham and Catterick.
Made For You runs here off top weight and I expect him to run well under Daire Davis who has developed a good relationship with the horse and is value for his 7lb claim.
16:35 Wetherby
The Micky Hammond trained Great Raffles (best priced at 11/4) has been running consistently well this year with form figures of 31123 and he looks sure to run well yet again. The seven-year-old won at both Wetherby and Sedgefield before finishing a nose 2nd at Newcastle off a mark of 82.
Great Raffles finished 3rd at Wetherby last time when he had the reopposing Heritier De Sivola a neck behind and the selection is actually 1lb better off with the favourite in this race. The price discrepancy looks too big between the two and I expect Great Raffles to prove hard to beat with Sean Bowen taking over.
