I think it may pay to chance NELL’S BELLS bouncing back at Chepstow on Thursday. This mare made a really promising start over hurdles winning at Wetherby on Boxing Day and there were excuses when she disappointed at Sedgefield when last seen in January. She has been given time since and if back on track could take a lot of beating here. She clearly remains a nice prospect and if the market speaks positively that would be even more insurance.

Internet Biddy could only manage fourth on hurdles debut at Lingfield but she was hampered over the first and is likely to come on for the experience. She’d need to improve a fair bit to trouble the selection if she bounces back though. Of the rest Oakley Dancer is yet to show a great deal over hurdles but again it remains early days so she could improve.

Back from a huge layoff FIRE DANCER impressed winning gamely on debut for Venetia Williams over C&D back in January. He made all on that occasion and was cruising two out before being eased and only just holding on in the end. The front pair were clear and it was a likeable performance. He pulled up at Cheltenham next time but that looked a hot contest eventually won by Stage Star who we know went on to win the Turners at the Cheltenham Festival.

He has a first-time tongue-strap on now and if bouncing back I have no doubt will be a danger to all. The obvious threat on recent form is Cartonne who actually arrives chasing a hat-trick. He is up another 6lb though and if the selection bounces back he might be up against it. Charles Ritz can do better too but will need to leave that Ffos Las run miles behind.
