Elogio has improved with each hurdle run and may find further improvement with the first-time cheekpieces applied.

VOCAL DUKE went close on his return from a break when denied by Applaus at Carlisle at the beginning of last month and is capable of improving from that effort, despite a 3lb rise from the handicapper. The latter arrives in search of a hat-trick of victories and has to be respected, while Hurlerontheditch and Alnadam can fight it out for the minor honours.

It is hard to look past GRANDEUR D'AME in this and a 7lb penalty looks unlikely to stop him securing a treble following a 17-length victory over 2m1f at Stratford last week.
