The Philip Kirby trained Lone Star (best priced at 5/2) has form figures of 1211 under Joe Williamson and the pair are expected to prove hard to beat once again in this race. The progressive six-year-old mare has won at Newcastle twice and Ayr before completing the hat-trick over this course and distance last time off a mark of 100.

The handicapper has raised Lone Star 10lbs for her 2 ¾ length victory last time which is fair and she is expected to take this step up in class in her stride.

Newbury specialist Zanza (best priced at 4/1) reverts back to hurdles in this race off a favourable mark and he is expected to add a sixth career victory at this course. The Philip Hobbs & Johnson White trained nine-year-old has form figures of 1161114 at this course which is amazing for a horse who only has a record of 7 wins from 31 races in his overall career.

Zanza won the Grade 2 Denman Chase over 3 miles here on his penultimate start before finishing 4th last time off a mark of 158 back in a handicap. He runs here off a mark of 140 back over hurdles which makes him extremely well handicapped and I expect him to prove hard to beat.

Only five runners contest this 0-120 mares’ handicap hurdle but preference goes to the Anthony Honeyball trained Credo (best priced at 13/8) who has been in consistent form recently. The eight-year-old has form figures of 21221 this season including a 19 length victory at Chepstow and a 13 length victory last time at Warwick off a mark of 120.

The handicapper has raised Credo 5lbs for that victory over fences up to a mark of 125 but she instead runs here off a mark of 120 over hurdles which makes her look well handicapped. Regular rider Rex Dingle retains the ride and hopefully she can continue her good form.
