It remains early days with REVELS HILL and now stepping up to this marathon trip it might bring out the best in him. After winning twice at Taunton he caught my eye on seasonal reappearance running on strongly behind Your Darling at Ascot. While he didn’t build on that at Sandown I don’t think he jumped well enough to get involved and was possibly given enough to do on that occasion as well.
He ran much better when third to Cap Du Nord in a fiercely competitive handicap at Ascot last month and up in trip again down 2lb he might be ready to strike again. Cyclop is still in the betting at the time of writing but he is meant to be running at Newbury on Saturday so is unlikely to take up this engagement. That might leave Young Bull as the main danger as he didn’t shape badly when third to Easy As That at Haydock and is down another 2lb now.

There was lots to like about the way DUKE OF DECEPTION sauntered to victory at Musselburgh last month. He ended up winning by 14 lengths and looks to have really turned a corner now. He is only 2lb higher here and remains unexposed over staying trips over fences. The cheekpieces really seem to have brought about the best in him and if they prove as effective once more then he must have a great shout to go and follow up.
Top-weight Creative Control is feared having impressed at Musselburgh and then finished runner-up on his next three starts. His form is very solid but this won’t be easy off 12 stone. Bretney can be tricky to catch right but on a going day he is plenty capable as he showed at Bangor last time. If managing to build on that he will also get competitive here but the headgear doesn’t always work again which would be a worry.
