It might be worth chancing ADRIMEL at Newcastle on Wednesday. He is back over hurdles now off a mark of 134 and with the ground likely to be very testing he should have ideal conditions. He won a Grade 2 at Warwick a couple of years ago and is certainly capable when on a going day. He carries top-weight here but is the class act in the field and I’m expecting a big run. Castle Rushen is also back in this sphere after proving frustrating over fences. He clearly has an engine but isn’t channeling it in the right direction at the moment and will need to put in a clear round to land a blow. The biggest danger is probably the favourite Donny Boy who ran well when second to Santos Blue at Kelso last time and looks back on the up now. It’s Good To Laugh was last seen competing on the Flat but did take well to hurdles a couple of years ago and is also respected now handicapping back over timber.
