After winning so impressively on hurdles debut at Wetherby it was no surprise to see SPARTAN ARMY highly tried since. Things didn’t go to plan behind Comfort Zone at Cheltenham but he was quickly back to form bumping into another improver in Celtic Art at Wincanton. He was far from disgraced in the Adonis finishing fifth and will find this a great deal easier now. He still possesses plenty of potential on what is just his fifth start over hurdles. He could still be open to improvement and should get back to winning ways. Jilaijone looked quite promising initially but I thought he was disappointing at Exeter and he is going to need to leave that behind to land a blow here. Only Fools makes her debut for David Pipe and she might end up being the danger to the selection if taking to hurdles at the first time of asking.

Having done well in bumpers it was good to see MISS LAMB put it together over hurdles to win at Hexham last time. She made all the running on that occasion and was always holding on in the closing stages. She goes handicapping now off what seems to be an appealing mark and I think she’ll serve it up to the favourite at the time of writing which is Horn Cape. The latter won well at Sedgefield last time but that wasn’t much of a race and a 7lb penalty surely hands the initiative to the selection. Beat Box is capable on a going day but he was a drifter in the betting before disappointing at Carlisle and he is going to need to put that behind him to be a factor here and I just think he is a bit of a risky proposition in his current mood. Deluxe Range also has a bit to prove despite dropping back in trip here.
