13:50 Lingfield

Jack Channon has made a fast start to the training ranks since taking over from father Mick landing 2 winners from his last 3 runners. He looks to have another good chance on Friday in the shape of KITBAG at Lingfield. This son of Territories was harshly handicapped initially but has come down the weights now and ran his best race for a while when a close second at Wolverhampton last time. He was clear with the winner and the field was well strung out behind. He looks to be coming to the boil nicely now and this represents a good opportunity for him to go one better. Ghost Lights has shown enough to think he can get seriously competitive now handicapping but his opening mark certainly is no given. Sumac deserves a mention as he continues to run well without getting his head in front and likely won’t be too far away again.

Given he is bred to keep improving with age perhaps it is no great surprise to see KISS MY FACE thriving of late. He ran a cracker when beaten a length by Easy Equation over C&D last month and improved to win convincingly back over hurdles at Catterick and then managed to follow up back on the level at Newcastle last time. He is 5lb higher here but if he turns up in the same form again he may well prove the answer once more. Alchemystique bumped into the progressive Bobby Shaftoe over track and trip last time and looks the danger on that form racing off just a 1lb higher mark. Hard to see much else getting seriously competitive as Gustav Holst is third in the betting but remains a maiden so that tells you about the lack of strength in depth in this. King Charles will enjoy going back up in trip so perhaps will prove best of the rest.
