The good looking FIX YOU looked an exciting prospect bolting up on debut at Thirsk so it was perhaps no great surprise to see her thrown in at the deep end in a Listed race in France when last seen. Things didn’t go to plan finishing nearer last than first but it remains early days with her and given plenty of time since she could resume her progress now stepping up in trip to 6f for the first time. This looks winnable and connections will be hopeful she can get back on track. Trilby is yet to win after 3 starts but has improved with each go getting within a neck of victory over C&D when last seen back in October and he looks the most obvious danger if stepping forward again. Greenham Bay was keen back from 7 months off following a gelding and wind op so is entitled to improve and is another one that should get competitive.

The improving ICONIC MOMENT needed every yard of the 7f to get up and nail New Definition at Lingfield on return. He started a little slowly but did well to recover through the race and ran on strongly to get on top as the line loomed. This step up to a mile should unlock further improvement and I think he can remain unbeaten here for James Tate. The horse he beat last time New Definition had looked impressive winning beforehand so the form should work out in time. Bold Act brought up a hat-trick of wins in good style last year and is clearly going the right way too so looks the danger but don’t rule out Brave Emperor running a big race too as he has won 5 of his last 6 and showed a good attitude to prevail at Kempton last time. Physique remains unexposed and I’ll be interested to see how he runs with an eye to the future.
