It would be no great surprise to see BALLINGERS CORNER take a big step forward now sent chasing. She was picked up for £50,000 after winning her sole start between the flags and made a successful hurdles debut for Nicky Henderson at Market Rasen. She wasn’t disgraced in defeat in two starts over before switching yards to Venetia Williams. Despite being well backed she flopped badly back from a mammoth layoff at Ludlow last month but with that under her belt and now tackling the larger obstacles there is good reasoning to think she will improve. She should show the benefit of a wind op now too and may be well handicapped off a mark of 107. Hector Jaguen had four starts in Iris points failing to win but has shown enough over fences to think he could threaten.

With more to come over a mile and a half FEN TIGER gets a confident vote to make a winning reappearance at Thirsk on Tuesday. He capped off last season better than ever winning 2 of his last 3 starts and off a 5lb higher mark he looks to have plenty going for him here. He made most at Leicester on final start so expect him to be up with or on the pace here and in this soft ground that could prove beneficial. Frederick Larson is good value for his 3lb claim and he rode him to success over C&D back in September last year. Forgetmenotblue is a good looking filly but she is yet to taste success and while she has been running behind the right horses so far this season I still think she needs more to make the breakthrough. Socks Off is fit from running over hurdles and might be the danger despite being 1lb out the weights.
