GYTO's Monday Notebook Double pays 8/1.
15:20 Kelso
What a weekend for Lucinda Russell and Derek Fox winning the Grand National with Corach Rambler. It is business as usual on Monday though and the yard are in great form so DOMANDLOUIS might be worth chancing at Kelso. This son of Getaway remains unexposed over fences and he was back on track in this sphere finishing second at Musselburgh last month. This looks easier and he should have more to come so there won’t be any excuses.
Bavington Bob won this last year so could be the danger but he was coming into this off the back of a hat-trick 12 months ago and hasn’t been in the same form this time around. Marown was only beaten a neck at Carlisle last time and stepping back up in trip should suit so he is another one that could get competitive.
19:00 Kempton
I was with SWEET MIST at Wolverhampton last time and I don’t think she did a lot wrong going down half a length at the line. She impressed with how she won prior to that and with Oisin Murphy taking over in the saddle she could be capable of an even bigger performance now. She is 2lb higher but this looks a winnable assignment so no surprise to see her popular in the betting. Strike won at Newmarket back in the summer but was beaten twice after off this mark.
He ran well on reappearance last year so goes quite well fresh and is probably the danger. Los Camachos has won over track and trip but is on a lengthy enough losing run now and finished nearer last than first at Lingfield last month but was beaten less than three lengths. Still needs to bounce back to get involved.
