A really interesting conditions event to kick off the Craven meeting, in which preference is for HI ROYAL. The Kevin Ryan-trained colt made an excellent debut when outrunning big odds to finish third in the Convival at York. He then kept on well to break his maiden at the second time of asking at Ayr over a mile in September and is fancied to step forward again. Mukeedd was a game winner on his racecourse bow at Newcastle in November and must be of interest switching to turf, while Chelmsford winner Majestic Pride and Ascot scorer City Of Kings give Charlie Appleby a strong hand.Prediction : 1st Hi Royal 2nd Mukeedd 3rd Majestic Pride

New Kingdom kept on well to land a competitive mile handicap at Meydan in February, but he has to shoulder top weight for his return to the UK and comes up against some progressive rivals. It could pay to side with TACARIB BAY, who gave a bold sight until fading into third in the Listed Doncaster Mile at the Lincoln meeting earlier this month and is fancied to relish the step back to 7f. Spirit Of Light and Juan Les Pins are others who warrant a market check.Prediction : 1st Tacarib Bay 2nd New Kingdom 3rd Spirit Of Light

A case can be made for plenty of these, including Dutch Decoy, who is entitled to come on from his seasonal debut in the Spring Mile at Doncaster. He is now just 1lb above his last winning mark, which came over this trip on the July Course last summer, but ASHKY gets the vote. A highly consistent filly last season, she struck three times over a mile at Newmarket - once here and twice on the July Course - and there is more to come from her. Bucephalus and Unforgotten are not to be underestimated.Prediction : 1st Ashky 2nd Bucephalus 3rd Dutch Decoy
15:35 Newmarket
The unbeaten Poker Face impressed in all three starts last season and is an interesting contender as he bids to bridge the gap from an eight-length success in a class 4 handicap at Pontefract to taking on more seasoned campaigners in this far more illustrious Group 3 contest. OTTOMAN FLEET, who landed two Listed races on this course in 2022, is that one who sets a very high standard and he looks a more secure option back on familiar territory after his exploits at this sort of level at the Dubai Carnival. Blue Trail should also be match-fit after a couple of Meydan runs and has to be feared too.Prediction : 1st Ottoman Fleet 2nd Poker Face 3rd Blue Trail

Covey is interesting with Frankie Dettori in the saddle after his successful stint Stateside, and this son of Frankel could well build on a very encouraging debut at Southwell, when making the smart Zoology pull out all the stops. However, a couple of newcomers catch the eye, with WHERE'S FREDDY, a half-brother to the Group 2-placed filly One For Bobby, rated as a likely type to make an immediate impact over a trip that should ideally suit. Art Of Romance also looks the part on paper and needs to be taken seriously. Molaqab and Palamon make obvious appeal too.Prediction : 1st Wheres Freddy 2nd Covey 3rd Art Of Romance
16:45 Newmarket
Yorkshire Terrier justified favouritism with the minimum of fuss at Southwell and he demands the utmost respect under a penalty. It may be wise to opt for a newcomer, though, and a tentative vote goes to 150,000gns purchase CUBAN THUNDER. Owners Amo Racing have already had their colours carried to glory by a couple of exciting youngsters this campaign, and the son of Profitable can add another victory to that tally. Hackman is related to plenty of winners and also warrants attention.Prediction : 1st Cuban Thunder 2nd Yorkshire Terrier 3rd Hackman
17:20 Newmarket
Al Barez has only been beaten once in his career and the unexposed four-year-old is a big player on his comeback, although he has a bit to prove considering he's only been seen once since November 2021. Preference is for DREAM COMPOSER, who boasts an impressive record over the minimum trip. The James Evans-trained gelding was by no means disgraced over 6f at Doncaster earlier this month and he can return to winning ways switching back in distance. Burning Cash takes a step into calmer waters and must be respected off 1lb below his last winning mark.Prediction : 1st Dream Composer 2nd Al Barez 3rd Burning Cash
