GYTO Thursday Notebook Double

This looks a straight shootout between the top pair in the betting and I’m keen to side with SEA FLAWLESS despite suffering defeat at Lingfield last time. She has still looked quite raw on both starts to date and was just never going the pace of the winner last time. Old Harrovian looks a smart horse though and has gone on to win by 10 lengths next time out to strongly frank the form. The selection needs to settle better and drop her head but if she does I think she could be a nice prospect today and going forward. She seems to have a nice turn of foot and that could prove the difference here. Liseo has some very solid form to his name without getting a win most notably when second to Warren Point at Doncaster. His better days are ahead and I expect him to run well but he might do better for the outing here and needs to bounce back from that final start last year.

He has largely been a work in progress but I thought there was lots to like about the way PHOENIX RISEN won over C&D a fortnight ago and even up 10lb this 6yo could be well handicapped. The cheekpieces seem to have been the catalyst and if they continue to work then he could go on improving for a while yet given his profile. He isn’t the only one coming here in form though with Universal Secret eyeing up a hat-trick. The assessor applies a bit more pressure up another 4lb but he should still give his running. Cornicello is proving a bit hit and miss these days but when on a going day is clearly capable as he showed at Wincanton back in November. The market will probably be quite revealing to his chance following 5 months off the track. Coolnaugh Haze carries top weight and has a squeak too if stripping fitter from that Huntingdon reappearance second.
