This represents a drop in grade for BRAVE NATION, who looked outpaced in Listed company at York when last seen in August. He was well beaten in a Group 2 at Newmarket on his penultimate outing and can bounce back here. Safari Dream hasn't been seen since finishing in mid-division in a sales race in October and could well improve, especially given he remains just 2lb above his last winning mark. Another to consider on his return to turf is Rocking Ends, who filled the runner-up spot at Kempton recently.
Prediction : 1st Brave Nation 2nd Safari Dream 3rd Rocking Ends

Local Dynasty makes his handicap debut following a game win in a Listed contest at Pontefract last October, but he has to shoulder top weight, so it could be worth siding with SAXON KING. An opening mark of 81 following a comfortable success in novice company at Haydock seems workable for the son of Zoustar and he can make a winning return to action here. Legend Of Leros completes the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Saxon King 2nd Local Dynasty 3rd Legend Of Leros

Marginal preference is for ANMAAT, who has proven to run well fresh and was unbeaten in three starts last season. He bolted up over an extended 1m2f at Haydock last August and could prove tough to beat if anywhere near that form, but Adayar lost little in defeat when finishing second behind Bay Bridge in the Champion Stakes at Ascot in October and the 2021 Derby champion can give the selection plenty to think about. Regal Reality could be the one to chase them home.
Prediction : 1st Anmaat 2nd Adayar 3rd Regal Reality

Arguably an unlucky loser in this last year, Mutasaabeq demands the utmost respect as he bids to go one better. He might struggle to concede 3lb to LIGHT INFANTRY, however, who is rated 7lb superior. The Fast Company colt, twice a runner-up at the highest level last season, should be difficult to beat if returning at the top of his game. Checkandchallenge ran a cracker to finish fourth in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot so he's worthy of consideration, along with Angel Bleu.
Prediction : 1st Light Infantry 2nd Mutasaabeq 3rd Checkandchallenge

A small but competitive field head to post for a race which could provide some clues with a view to the upcoming Derby, and ARREST tops the shortlist. The son of Frankel, who is entered in the Derby and Irish equivalent, was narrowly denied in the Criterium de Saint-Cloud when last seen. He can repel the challenge of fellow Derby hopeful Flying Honours, who appeared to relish a step up in trip when winning the Zetland in October. Salt Bay ran a blinder to finish third in the Criterium International on what was just his second career start and, with improvement likely, he's respected too.
Prediction : 1st Arrest 2nd Flying Honours 3rd Salt Bay

Charlie Appleby sends out two fillies with impeccable pedigrees and both Queen Of Fairies and Eternal Hope, who have already shown ability, are bred to make an impact and possibly go on to achieve bigger and better things. However, the form of INFINITE COSMOS' debut second was boosted when the winner subsequently finished second in a Group 3 in France earlier this month, and Sir Michael Stoute's daughter of Sea The Stars is a slightly more attractive proposition.
Prediction : 1st Infinite Cosmos 2nd Queen Of Fairies 3rd Eternal Hope

RIBAL has the advantage of having a recent turf run under his belt and, having proven his effectiveness on testing ground courtesy of a good second at Doncaster earlier this month, the son of Roaring Lion offers strong appeal on his handicap debut. Maasai Mara is respected but faces very different conditions now dropped trip after a couple of solid efforts on the all-weather, so Rathgar may be more of threat on this occasion. Feud has a bit to find in this company.
Prediction : 1st Ribal 2nd Rathgar 3rd Maasai Mara
