Monday Racing Tips from Steve Ryder

Both Queen Maedbh and Snowcapped are respected on their handicap debuts but preference goes to the consistent QUEENIE ST CLAIR (best priced at 11/2). The Noel Meade trained three-year-old ran well in three maiden races before finishing a close 3rd on her handicap debut at Cork last month. She was only beaten 1 ¾ lengths that day off a mark of 76 before finishing 3rd beaten only ¾ length last time at Naas off the same mark.

The handicapper has raised Queenie St Clair 2lbs for that effort which is fair and interestingly connections now fit her first time cheekpieces for this race. This step back up in trip to 7f should suit and she should run well with four places on offer and Colin Keane back on board.

INSINEUNDO (best priced at 15/2) nearly beat Luxembourg on his reappearance last season and I am hoping she can go one better this season with the benefit of race fitness on her side. The Willie McCreery trained six-year-old has a fantastic record at the Curragh with form figures of 4142221 including a victory on her reappearance over a mile here in a Group 3.

Insinuendo has 3lbs to find with Above The Curve on ratings but the benefit of a recent run should mean that she is the biggest danger to the odds on favourite Luxembourg who comes here rather than the Prix Ganay yesterday which has to be seen as a negative.

The Jack Channon trained HIROMOCHI (best priced at 11/4) is the only horse coming into this race in good form and he should prove hard to beat in this race. The five-year-old won three times last season before winning on the AW in March at Lingfield. That victory came off a mark of 69 and he was only beaten late on at Leicester last time off a mark of 72.

Hiromichi raced too keenly that day on heavy ground and he only weakened late on so he should be suited by this return to better ground. He runs off the same mark here and I expect him to prove hard to beat with David Probert taking over in the saddle.
