15:25 Pontefract
The only last time out winner in the field THE COOKSTOWN CAFU could be set to follow up at Pontefract on Wednesday. He has won 2 of his last 3 now and I thought he was value for a bit more than the winning margin at Redcar on reappearance last month. He made most of the running and even having been headed a furlong out he kept on well and was nicely on top again at the finish. He is up just 2lb and still looks well handicapped especially in a race like this. He should relish going back up to a mile and I think he’ll prove hard to beat. Vaccine caught the eye to some extent when fifth behind Kingmania at Southwell and improved to run a big race in second over track and trip last time. He was only beaten a length so with cheekpieces back on should get competitive.

The money was down for SPOOF at Windsor and he made no mistake. He was only headed in the final few strides on return at Doncaster and then looked unlucky narrowly failing to get up at Yarmouth last month. He deserved that victory last time and arrives here at the top of his game. He is clearly well-in under a 4lb penalty and if he gets carried into the race like he has done the last twice I think that will help him finish well again. Beyond Equal didn’t run badly when beaten 3 lengths into fourth at Windsor last time and is a player if handling the drop back down to the minimum trip. Glamorous Breeze won twice last season and didn’t shape badly on reappearance at Southwell. She is still quite high in the handicap though and you’d have to think others are better treated here.
