The way COVERDALE closed up on handicap debut over a mile at Pontefract on final start as a 2yo was eye-catching. He returns here stepping up to a mile and a quarter for the first time and that should bring out the best in him. I know the yard have always thought a fair bit of him so hopefully he can start delivering on the track now. He is 3lb higher but is likely to have improved plenty and looks to have a great chance. Ribal was well backed at Doncaster on return last month and ran well to finish second to Maxi King. He is going the right way so with more to come should give the selection something to think about. Of the rest Roaring Legend has done very little wrong in 3 starts to date and if stepping forward again on handicap debut here could also run a nice race. Razoni is more exposed but is another one with consistent form.

After catching the eye at Kempton it was good to see Frankel filly KENSINGTON open her account at Wolverhampton on final start last year. She made all the running that day and kept pulling out more at the finish to hold on well. The form could have worked out better since but she could only deal with what was in front of her and with improvement expected on handicap debut she might have been let in lightly off a mark of just 78. There isn’t masses of pace on so that could be another plus to her chances too. The danger is probably Lady Labelle who ran well when third to Al Qareem at York before disappointing at Newmarket on final start. She has more to come and ran well fresh last season so should be fit and ready to go. Vega Sicilia had form figures of 1222 before blowing out at Lingfield last time but he is better than what he showed on that occasion.
