15:25 Leopardstown

Lope De Vega colt UP AND UNDER could be worth chancing to go one better at Leopardstown on Sunday. This colt looked to need the experience when third on debut at Navan but he was given a patient ride that day and that form has worked out quite well since. He improved on reappearance to get within half a length of victory here and if improving again should have a great chance. The front pair came 4 lengths clear from the rest and his form looks to stack up. Proud And Regal has won 3 of his 5 starts but he hasn’t been seen since winning in France and that lack of race-fitness might cost him on return. Tower Of London won on return but then finished last behind Auguste Rodin on final start so has a bit to prove after that. Londoner is a colt I’ll be keeping a close eye on a I think he could be a nice colt going forward but might need more time and experience.

I thought there was enough promise in the reappearance run of ARKENSTAAR to make him of strong interest here racing off the same mark. He just looked like he needed the run staying on strongly for third but never really threatening. That was his first start back from 6 months off and he should strip a lot fitter from that. He is having just his third start in a handicap so there is good reason to expect further improvement yet especially over a mile. Obama Army had been well backed and has come out now so it looks a good opportunity for the selection to open his account. Epona Pas was held up on return at Bath and should come on for that so could emerge as the danger. Leap Year Lad caught the eye at both Newcastle and Southwell but struggled a bit when third to Concorde at Redcar last time.
