The way SCUDAMORE came powering through to win by 6 lengths at Stratford last month was impressive and while he is up 7lb he looks to have found a good opportunity to follow up. This lacks strength in depth and with Lewis Stones claiming 3lb there seems to be lots to like again. Hopefully Baby Sham, Champagne Town and Top Drawer push forward as the stronger gallop they go the better as the selection will be ridden quietly before looking to pounce late. Living’s Boy An Co won emphatically at Market Rasen back in October last year but was already beaten when unseating at Musselburgh and has a bit to prove on return. Enthused did well on the Flat but has failed to match that over hurdles so far and is hard to recommend. Lighthouse Mill might be the danger if building on that second at Southwell last month.

This race is cutting up so it could be a good opportunity now for BOBALOT to get back to winning ways. I thought he caught the eye to some extent when fourth on reappearance at Haydock looking like he needed the run and not quite managing to see out the trip. He was dropped a couple of pounds after that and then ran with promise again at Chepstow but didn’t see out the 3 miles with a great deal of conviction. Down another pound with a first-time visor applied he could resume his progress dropping down to 2 and a half miles. He is below his last winning mark so no surprise to see him proving popular in the betting. Port Or Starboard finally ended his losing run dead heating at Exeter in March and hasn’t been disgraced twice in defeat since so could be the danger back up in trip. Malina Jamila is also noted despite pulling up when last seen at Newbury.
