The Ben Haslam trained Our Laura B (best priced at 4/1) is only 1lb higher than when 2nd by a nose last time and this previous course and distance winner should prove hard to beat in this race. The five-year-old finished well beaten in her first two starts over hurdles at Sedgefield before winning over this course and distance on her handicap debut off a mark of 94.

The handicapper raised her 6lbs for that 3 ¾ length success and she ran well to finish 2nd last time by a nose at Ludlow over 2m5f. She returns to this course and distance off only a 1lb higher mark and I expect her to prove hard to beat with Richie McLernon retaining the ride.

This looks a weak 0-60 handicap and I am willing to take a chance on the Tim Easterby trained American Oak (best priced at 18/1) on his handicap debut. The three-year-old has only beaten three horses in his three runs to date but he now starts off life in handicaps off a lowly mark of 58.

The son of Golden Horn has been running over 7f and a mile but now steps up in trip to 1m4f for this race which looks sure to suit his breeding. David Allen takes back over on board and he looks worth taking a chance on for his handicap debut.

The Mark Walford stable has been in fantastic form for the previous week with six winners and two seconds from their previous twelve runners and I am hoping Zumurud (best priced at 12/1) can get back to winning ways in this race. The eight-year-old won at Nottingham last season off a mark of 63 before finishing a close 3rd at Thirsk in September off a mark of 67 with both performances coming in a visor.

Zumurud has run with no headgear on his previous two starts when slightly disappointing but this has meant that he has dropped back down to a mark of 65. The visor is now back on and he should run well with four places widely available.
