Fierce Warrior was somewhat underwhelming when failing to justify favouritism on his bumper bow at Huntingdon last month and he will likely need to improve on that fifth-placed finish to capitalise here. With that in mind, a chance is taken on newcomer ONEWAYWEST, who is a half-brother to useful hurdle/chase winner Birchdale. Ben Pauling's gelding possesses enough speed in his pedigree to land a bumper and any market support would increase interest. Charia and Ted's Gift also require consideration.

Huelgoat and Almazhar Garde have scope to improve back over hurdles and may benefit greatly from a confidence booster. However, DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE, who ran green on his debut over timber at Kempton 16 days ago, could be worth chancing now that he has the benefit of experience to draw upon. Having cost 100,000 euros as a yearling, there is a lot to like about his pedigree, with his dam a half-sister to Gold Cup winner Long Run.

TROLLEY BOY, who won a novices' hurdle with plenty in hand at Ludlow three weeks ago, looks the most appealing of this bunch and seems progressive enough to shrug aside the burden of top weight back in handicap company. Lucky Lover Boy has won seven of his 24 previous starts over hurdles and is feared most on his first start back since November, while Dasher Riley has previous course experience and is another taken seriously on debut for a new yard.

MOONSHINE SPIRIT showed promise in both previous starts over hurdles and, given this looks a tad easier than either of those contests, this could be a good time to side with the Fergal O'Brien-trained gelding. Trick Of The Tail was badly hampered when he fell at the first on his hurdles debut in October and is hardly overfaced for his return to action. He shades the vote for the forecast slot over Splashing Wave, who is open to improvement now obstacles are in the way.

HARRY GULLIVER showed glimpses of promise when fifth on his hurdling bow at Chepstow last month and the Alex Hales-trained five-year-old can shed the maiden tag at the second time of asking. Harry Cobden boasts an impressive strike-rate at this venue and his ride, Emanate, may be able to build on her first effort over hurdles when fourth at Taunton last time out. Prince Of Newton is another to consider.

Masterdream hasn't been seen over hurdles since landing the spoils at this venue in June and he rates the most immediate danger. Ranco was a consistent customer last year and completes the shortlist.
