Following a 5/1 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
15:00 York
This looks a competitive renewal of the Duke Of York Clipper Stakes and with doubts about others at the top of the market, preference goes to Marshman (best priced at 9/2). The Karl Burke trained three-year-old has run consistently well on all five career starts to date with form figures of 11251 including a comfortable reappearance win at Chantilly in the Group 3 Prix Sigy Stakes.
This will be Highfield Princess’s first start of the season which is a question mark and Creative Force is also now backing up only four days after his reappearance success at Haydock. The Astrologist is an unknown quantity coming over from Australia but his run at Meydan doesn’t set a daunting standard. Marshman is the only three-year-old in the line-up and hopefully he can take advantage of getting weight from the rest of the field and win this Group 2.

Wedgewood will no doubt prove popular under a 6lb penalty but his three wins this year have all come on the AW and he has to prove that he is just as effective back on turf. Preference instead goes to Cluedo (best priced at 7/2) who makes her handicap debut off an opening mark of 57. The Henry Candy trained three-year-old has improved with every start so far this year with her best performance coming last time at Chepstow when 2nd on her first start over 5f.
Cluedo finished only a nose behind the 64 rated Our Florentine last time so she looks leniently handicapped off an opening mark of 57 and she should hold strong claims of upsetting the favourite.
18:40 Bath
This looks a competitive 0-60 handicap but preference goes to the Ralph Beckett trained Galilaeus (best priced at 5/2) who should benefit from his handicap debut on his reappearance. The three-year-old son of Galileo showed very little in his first three starts before being sent off evens favourite for his handicap debut on his reappearance at Windsor. He could only finish 8th that day but he now drops from a 0-75 handicap into a 0-60 handicap.
Connections fit Galilaeus with a first time visor and he should prove hard to beat in this race.
