14:35 Yarmouth

This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap but preference goes to the Brian Meehan trained JEAN DANJOU (best priced at 8/1) who can hopefully bounce back from being a disappointing beaten favourite on his reappearance. The four-year-old was sent off 9/4 favourite for a six runner handicap at Windsor last time off a mark of 74 but failed to beat a rival and the handicapper has dropped him 3lbs for that effort.

Jean Danjou is now fitted with a first time tongue tie as well as cheekpieces being re-fitted and hopefully that can spark a return to form. Connections have booked William Buick for the ride which is a huge positive and hopefully he can get off the mark in this race.

Despite racing 2lbs out of the handicap in this race, I am willing to take a chance on YAASER (best priced at 6/1) back over at this course. The Jim Goldie trained five-year-old won twice at Ayr last season before winning at Doncaster in August off a mark of 71. He finished 3rd in a Racing League handicap at Newcastle off a mark of 81 before gradually dropping down the weights this season.

Yaaser runs here off a mark of 73 which is only 2lbs higher than his previous winning mark but he drops from a Class 3 0-90 handicap into a Class 4 0-80 handicap in this race. He was only beaten 4 ½ lengths off this mark last time at Hamilton and hopefully he runs well in this race.

Yaaser - 0.5pts e/w @ 6/1

Irish raider Theophilos is respected coming over for this race but he races off an 11lb higher mark than his success last time and preference instead goes to the Jim Goldie trained SOPHIESTICATE (best priced at 11/1). The four-year-old has been running consistently well on her three starts this season when finishing 4th including when only beaten 1 ¼ lengths at Hamilton last time off a mark of 69.

Sophiesticate runs here off a mark of 68 meaning that she is 1lb “well in” at the weights and she should give the favourite most to think about in this race.

Sophiesticate - 0.5pts e/w @ 11/1
