14:15 Curragh

This looks a competitive fillies handicap but preference goes to Marsa (best priced at 6/1) who races off an 11lb lower mark on turf than on the AW. The Eddie Lynam trained four-year-old ended last season in good form at Dundalk winning two races off marks of 77 and 81 before finishing a close 3rd off a mark of 85.

Marsa now switches back to turf off a mark of 74 and she proved last year that she is just as effective when winning a Gowran Park on good to firm ground off a mark of 72.  Bookmakers are offering up to five places on the race and she looks a solid each way selection at the prices.

Marsa - 0.5pts e/w @ 6/1

It was a slightly disappointing run by Insineundo (best priced at 10/3) last time in the Group 2 Mooresbridge Stakes but she is expected to bounce back in this race back against her own sex. The Willie McCreery trained six-year-old has a good record at the Curragh with form figures of 41422214 with her victories coming over 1m and 1m1f in Group 2 and Group 3 contests.

Insineundo won the Park Express Stakes on her reappearance in comfortable fashion over this course and distance before finishing 4th against the boys last time. The likes of Luxembourg, Layfayette and Piz Badile are all running in the Tattersalls Gold Cup in the race before so this represents a drop in class and she should prove hard to beat.

Insineundo - 1pt @ 10/3

Aidan O’Brien recorded a 1-2 in the Irish 2000 Guineas yesterday and I am willing to take a chance on the supplemented Jackie Oh (best priced at 12/1) in this race. The well-bred daughter of Galileo out of Jacqueline Quest won on her debut over a mile in March before finishing a close 2nd in a listed race over 1m2f on her next start. She just raced too keenly in the early stages of that race and was beaten by a more experienced stayer in the shape of Village Voice by ¾ length.

This drop back in trip and switch to better ground should suit Jackie Oh and hopefully she can prove the biggest danger to Tahiyra who holds strong claims following a near miss at Newmarket on her reappearance.
