Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
15:35 Newton Abbot
Buxted Too is respected on his handicap hurdle debut given his flat ability but preference instead goes to Hunting Percival (best priced at 7/2) who bounced back to form here last week. The Syd Hosie trained eight-year-old outran odds of 80/1 to finish a three length 2nd behind Sherborne a week ago over 2m5f off a mark of 107 under an inexperienced 7lb claimer.
Hunting Pervical runs here off a mark of 100 which means he is 7lbs lower than his latest start and also 8lbs “well in” at the weights as a result of his 1lb rise from the handicapper. Harry Cobden takes over on board and I expect him to prove hard to beat if he can repeat his latest effort.

This 0-85 handicap looks set to be dominated by handicap debutants Ludmilla and Eximious (best priced at 2/1) and preference goes to the latter who has shown a greater level of form. The Roger Varian trained three-year-old finished 2nd on her debut at Newmarket before getting off the mark at Salisbury when justifying favouritism by 2 ½ lengths.
Eximious finished well beaten in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on her final start last season but this represents a significant drop in class. She should hold strong claims on her handicap debut off an opening mark of 87 with Ray Dawson taking over on board for the first time.
17:25 Newbury
This looks a weak 0-80 handicap and it looks a good opportunity for Saligo Bay (best priced at 13/8) to follow up his recent Windsor success. The Gary Moore trained five-year-old was a course and distance winner in July 2021 and he was winning for the first time since on the flat when he would be ¾ length at Windsor 16 days ago off a mark of 76.
The handicapper has raised Saligo Bay 3lbs for that success which is fair and he should prove hard to beat with Rhys Clutterbuck retaining the ride.
