With a win and a good third at this track SHOBIZ is strongly fancied to follow up that Newbury win last time here. He ran on readily to win going away last time and looks a horse at the top of his game right now. He is 4lb higher and this is competitive but he is looking progressive and should justify favouritism. Mamillius is a 10-year-old now but did get his head back in front to beat Recon Mission at Lingfield last month. That horse has since run creditably in the Dash at Epsom and the form is pretty solid so he could run well again. Indian Creak blew out at Epsom last time finishing nearer last than first and is probably finding the ground too quick right now. The rest are double-figure prices so hard to see much else getting involved and it is a very good opportunity for the selection to deliver again.

I was at Epsom to see AUSTRIAN THEORY win a fiercely competitive handicap and you’d have to be impressed with the way he kept grinding it out in the closing stages. Back in trip here up just a couple of pounds it is hard to see how he doesn’t go close to following up. I think as long as this doesn’t come too soon then he is by far and away the most likely winner so 7/2 at the time of writing could look a big price. In terms of a danger The Cookstown Cafu is clearly thriving with recent form figures of 12112 and despite a career-high mark of 85 now he is still the obvious threat. On The River is going for four wins in a row so shouldn’t be dismissed easily either but up another 5lb life will be tougher here. Maywake needs them to go hard to try and pick them off late but not an easy task at all.
