This looks a competitive 0-95 handicap but preference goes to last year’s winner SILVER SAMAURAI (best priced at 15/2) who is well handicapped on old form and is now fitted with first time cheekpieces. The six-year-old won this race last season off a mark of 92 by a length before going on to finish 3rd twice at York later in the season off marks of 97.

Silver Samurai ran well to finish 4th on his reappearance at Kempton before slightly disappointing on his next two starts at both Newmarket and York. He has now dropped back down from a mark of 99 to 95 and hopefully he can record back to back wins in this race in first time cheekpieces.

Both Cumulonnimbus and Good Show come into this 0-105 handicap on the back of recent victories but preference instead goes to the David O’Meara trained GET SHIRTY (best priced at 6/1) who drops in class. The seven-year-old won over this course and distance in July on his only start at Haydock when he won by 1 ½ lengths off a mark of 105.

Since that victory, Get Shirty has largely been contested group and listed races apart from when only beaten a length at Meydan in a handicap off a mark of 105. He runs here off top weight and should run well with up to four places available.

This ten-runner field have struggle to record a recent win between them and I am hoping that it is the turn of UGO GREGORY (best priced at 9/4) in this race. The Tim Easterby trained seven-year-old is a three-time course and distance winner off marks of 66, 69 and 78 so he looks well handicapped off a mark of 68.

Ugo Gregory finished 2nd over 1m½f here in May before finishing a nose 2nd over this course and distance 10 days ago off a mark of 65. The handicapper has raised him 3lbs up to a mark of 68 which is fair and I expect him to prove hard to beat under regular rider David Allen.
