Things hadn’t really been going right for KING OF BAVARIA despite some decent runs in defeat so it was good to see him back in the winners enclosure at Windsor last month. This son of No Nay Never broke awkwardly but soon recovered and did well to get up in the closing stages. That form has been franked since with the third Navello winning the Dash at Epsom next time out. He is only up 3lb from that and with potential to do better again I think he is a decent play here and at fair odds too. Ancient Times shaped as though he needed the run on return at Newmarket and then his stall opened late in the Dash behind Navello last time so he could be the danger. Alligator Alley finished with running left last time and is another one that could get competitive in this.

A small but select field for this and I’m keen to side with Nathaniel filly MALKA for Kevin Philippart De Foy. She was beaten just over 5 lengths at Goodwood on debut last month but she reared as the stalls opened and was slowly away as a result. She ran on well and was nearest finish and with that initial experience under her belt I think she could improve plenty now. She is potentially a nice prospect and looks the one to beat now as long as the two debutants aren’t nothing special. Sea Theme is by Sea The Stars so certainly has the potential to be useful but I’ll be hoping she does better for the experience. Frankel filly Mistral Star is also worth a mention as she went close on debut and while she disappointed at Newbury last time she is likely better than what she showed.
