Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
14:15 Sandown
This looks a competitive 0-100 handicap but a chance is taken on Autumn Festival (best priced at 25/1) who won at this course last season. The David O’Meara trained four-year-old recorded a five-timer last season with his first victory coming at this course over 7f here off a mark of 70. He followed up off marks of 72, 78, 84 and 88 at Chepstow, Beverley and Musselburgh but has so far disappointed this season.
Autumn Festival has slightly disappointed on his three starts so far this season but has now dropped back down to a mark of 90 which is only 2lb higher than his previous victory. Adam Kirby takes over on board and he should run well with up to five places available.
14:35 York
The David O’Meara trained Darkness (best priced at 4/1) has run well on his previous two starts and should hold strong claims off the same mark. The five-year-old joined the yard rated 95 but the gelding had dropped down to a mark of 85 before finishing a close 2nd by ½ length at Epsom earlier this month.
The handicapper raised Darkness 3lbs for that run up to a mark of 88 where he was only beaten a short head at Goodwood on Sunday. He runs here off the same mark and should prove hard to beat with Danny Tudhope taking over.
17:25 York
Lots of this field come into this race off the back of a last time out victory but preference goes to Abate (best priced at 9/1) who should hold strong claims of a completing a hat-trick of wins. The Adrian Nicholls trained seven-year-old won over this course and distance off a mark of 75 in July 2020 and the gelding has bounced back to form recently with victories at both Hamilton and Haydock off a mark of 75.
The handicapper has raised Abate 6lbs up to a mark of 81 which will make this more difficult but he should run well with four places available.
