Steve Ryder is back with three selections for today's action.
14:05 Doncaster
Yaaser has been beaten at short prices on his previous three starts so he looks vulnerable off this mark and preference instead goes to Ey Up Its The Boss (best priced at 8/1) who is fitted with a first time visor in this race. The Tony Coyle trained four-year-old showed immediate improvement last season when fitted with first time cheekpieces with form figures of 2111 and I am hoping a switch in headgear will spark a similar improvement.
Ey Up Its the Boss bounced back to form last time with a ½ length 2nd at Thirsk off a mark of 67 and he should hold strong claims off only 1lb higher in this race. This slight drop in trip to 7f should suit and I expect him to run well with up to five places available.
16:00 Salisbury
This looks to be between course and distance winners Michaels Choice and Redredrobin (best priced at 10/3) with preference going to the latter who arrives in better form. The Malcolm Saunders trained six-year-old won over this course and distance in May off a mark of 58 before following up off the same mark at Bath on her next start.
Redredrobin finished a head 2nd at Chepstow last week off a mark of 62 and she should hold strong claims off only a 1lb higher mark in this race.
16:15 Gowran
Ger Lyons has had a quiet start to the season but that could mean he has some well handicapped horses in his yard. Hopefully that is the case with Semantics (best priced at 9/4) who runs here in first time blinkers for the first time. The three-year-old was only beaten 3 ¾ lengths on her only handicap start at the Curragh off a mark of 77 before finishing a ¾ length 4th at Navan in a maiden a week ago.
Semantics was set to run in a better race at Leopardstown on Thursday but she instead runs in this race and I expect her to prove hard to beat with Jack Kearney taking off a handy 4lbs.
