I’m looking forward to seeing the English Guineas winner Chaldean and Irish Guineas winner PADDINGTON lock horns in the St James’s Palace Stakes. They are both very smart horses but I favour the latter to come out on top. He is getting better with every start and was convincing again bringing up the four-timer last time. He has a relentless way about him and if stepping forward again on collateral form clearly has an obvious chance of extending the winning sequence. Chaldean has a real will to win so won’t go down easily but I think he’d need rain to be seen to best effect and the selection might just be hitting the line harder. Mostabshir has only had the 3 starts but he impressed at York and if improving isn’t completely out of this so might be worth an each way saver.

I have been with the likeable CLOUDY ROSE the last twice and I see no reason to abandon her now in her hat-trick bid here. I liked the way she cut through the pack to win at this track last month and then she travelled like a dream before asserting at Beverley last time. She is up another 3lb but Adam Farragher negates that rise and she has plenty going for her once more. Iconic Mover is probably the danger as he bumped into the progressive Mr Freedom at Lingfield and that is good form especially in the context of this race. The issue with him is he remains a maiden and will likely find one or two too good again. Eagle’s Realm was only beaten 2 lengths behind Glory And Honour when last seen on the Flat and is another one who could show up well at least.
