Following a 10/3 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with three selections for today's action.
15:40 Wolverhampton
This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap but I am willing to take a chance on BEAU VINTAGE (best priced at 9/1) on his handicap debut. The Tom Clover trained three-year-old finished a five length 6th on his debut at Chelmsford before disappointing on both of his starts so far this season at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford.
The handicapper has given Beau Vintage an opening mark of 68 for his handicap debut and I find it interesting that connections now fit him with first time cheekpieces in this race. Luke Morris takes over on board and he should run well with four places on offer.
16:30 Lingfield
The Ed Dunlop stable remain in good form (32% strike rate in the previous two weeks) and think HARRIET'S ANGEL (best priced at 8/1) should build on her recent 3rd on handicap debut. The daughter of Harry Angel had form figures of 432 in maiden races over 6f before finishing a two length 3rd at Wetherby on her handicap debut 13 days ago over 7f.
Harriet’s Angel weakened in the final furlong of the contest so this drop in trip back to 6f should suit her well and she should run well back on the AW.
17:00 Lingfield
The James Fanshawe trained ALPINE GIRL (best priced at 5/2) won on her first start over 5f last time on her first start on the AW and she should prove hard to beat off a 5lb higher mark. The three-year- old ran well on her reappearance when 3rd at Windsor over 6f off a mark of 64 before capitalising on a career low mark of 62 to win over this course and distance last time.
That was Alpine Girl’s first start over 5f in her career and also the first time that Benoit De La Sayette had ridden her in her career. The pair team up again today over the same course and distance and she should prove hard to beat in this race.
