Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action, with runners at Beverley and Brighton.
14:45 Beverley
This looks a competitive 0-75 handicap but preference goes to the consistent EY UP ITS THE BOSS (best priced at 9/2) who has been beaten less than a length on his previous two starts. The Tony Coyle trained four-year-old finished a half length 2nd at Thirsk on his penultimate start off a mark of 67 before finishing a neck 3rd at Doncaster on his next start off a mark of 68.
Connections fitted Ey Up Its the Boss with a first time visor last time rather than his regular cheekpieces and he should prove hard off the same mark.
16:00 Brighton
This field has five previous course and distance winners in but preference goes to SIR WINSTON (best priced at 13/8) who has been running consistently well on his previous three starts. The Roger Varian trained four-year-old finished a half length 2nd at Lingfield in May off a mark of 73 under Aidan Keeley before winning over this course and distance on his penultimate start off a mark of 75.
Sir Winston was only beaten ¾ length when 2nd at Chepstow earlier month off a mark of 80 but I expect him to prove hard to beat off a 1lb higher mark with Aidan Keeley taking over back on board using his 5lb claim.
16:15 Beverley
The Iain Jardine trained BASHFUL (best priced at 7/1) has won his previous two starts and he should hold strong claims under a 5lb penalty. The five-year-old won at Hamilton in May off a mark of 70 before winning six days ago at Newcastle on his first run since a wind operation. He won by 1 ¾ lengths eased at the finish off a mark of 73 and he will no doubt receive more than a 5lb rise from the handicapper.
Bashful has been declared for Carlisle tomorrow so it will be interesting to see if connections intend to run him under another penalty and he is expected to complete a hat-trick of wins.
