I know BAND OF JOY was beaten 4 lengths into second on debut but I still thought that was a good run first time out and if she improves again this could be a good opportunity for her to get off the mark. She seemed to travel quite strongly into it and whether it was just inexperience or possibly the fact she might have needed the run she failed to make any more inroads in the closing stages. Either way it was encouraging and with improvement expected now I think she can make the breakthrough. Harry Angel filly Acer was a place behind the selection on debut so that might be how this plays out and she could be the biggest danger. Johnny Johnson has experience on side and his form is pretty solid so he shouldn’t be ignored either.

C&D winner AHAMOMENT looks a good bet to complete the hat-trick here. He made all in good style over track and trip last month and then knuckled down well under pressure up 4lb to follow up at Ayr last time. He is up another 3lb but is clearly in good heart and this looks a really winnable Class 6. He is the obvious pace in the race so might even get a soft lead if all goes to plan. There is nobody better than Joe Fanning to dictate off the front so I think all is in place for another big effort. Sparkle In His Eye was poor at Thirsk but bounced back in a big way to go down less than a length over C&D last time. He could easily be a danger but consistency isn’t his strongpoint. Rory ran a big race when second to Alpine Sierra on penultimate start but failed to back that up last time.
