Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action at Pontefract & Windsor.
14:10 Pontefract
Dancing Gypsy is respected in this race in first time cheekpieces but preference instead goes to UNPLUGGED (best priced at 2/1) who has been running consistently well this season and comes into the race following a victory at Haydock last time. The Michael & David Easterby trained seven-year-old was only beaten a nose at Pontefract on his reappearance off a mark of 63 before winning at Haydock last time under Serena Brotherton.
Unplugged won comfortably by 2 ¼ lengths that day off a mark of 65 and he is deserving of a 3lb rise from the handicapper. She won over this course and distance in June off a mark of 65 so this mark of 68 should be within reach and I expect him to prove hard to beat.
15:50 Pontefract
This looks a weak 0-65 handicap and preference goes to ROGUE TORNADO (best priced at 6/4) who should be able to go one better than on his handicap debut a month ago. The Tom Clover trained three-year-old finished well beaten in three novice/maiden races over a mile but showed huge improvement when only beaten a neck in 2nd on his handicap debut at Yarmouth last time over 1m3½f.
This further step up in trip to 1m4f will suit Rogue Tornado and he should be able to cope with a 2lb rise from the handicapper and get off the mark in this race on his second run since being gelded.
17:10 Windsor
The Richard Hannon trained SKALLYWAG BAY (best priced at 4/1) won on her first start over 5f last time and she should hold strong claims off only a 3lb higher mark. The three-year-old won a novice race at Kempton over 6f in September before disappointing at both Salisbury and Newmarket on her first two starts in handicaps.
Skallywag Bay was only beaten a neck at Windsor on her penultimate start off a mark of 69 before getting off the mark last time at Lingfield when dropped to 5f for the first time. She won by ¾ length at the finish and she is expected to prove hard to beat back at Windsor off a 3lb higher mark.
