SPANISH HUSTLE found 1m1f too sharp at Hamilton on his return to the level, but he put that behind him when upped to 1m3f at the same venue, accounting for a subsequent winner, and the extra yardage here can help him improve further. Spirit Of Ash also arrives in winning form, numbering Marcello Si among her Newcastle victims, although that did come out of the blue a bit and she isn't guaranteed to confirm the form. All bar Castleberg Rock are previous C&D winners, including ON A SESSION, who had Manigordo back in third when landing this prize last year. He again had that rival behind him when successful here in April and will find this easier than the Epsom handicap he contested on Oaks day. Manigordo must not be dismissed lightly, arriving as he does on the back of a Beverley triumph. Gioia Cieca was behind On A Session and Manigordo in that April contest, but could close the gap in a first-time visor.

How Bizarre did it nicely over a mile at this track on his latest outing and he can get in contention once more off 4lb higher, but the vote goes to TACITUS. He was victorious by a length and a half last time at Redcar in this grade and, with the extra furlong unlikely to pose any problems, he can go in again. Shine On Brendan is a consistent performer and his time could be near, so he is one to watch out for.

GLORY FIGHTER went from pillar to post last time at Catterick when sporting first-time cheekpieces and he was rightly hit with an 8lb rise. Given the manner of the win, that hike in the ratings may not be enough to prevent the seven-year-old from making it a double. Copper Knight was a disappointing favourite last time as he finished last of eight, but his mark continues to drop, which gives him a chance. Venturous is more than capable at this level as well.

Bonito Cavalo has been sent off at fancied odds on each of his last three starts and has failed to justify that support, but he is more than capable at this level. However, preference is for GOLDEN PROSPERITY, who was just over three lengths clear of the third last time at Ripon in a class 6 handicap and he can go one better to finally shed his maiden tag. Iconicdaay completes the shortlist.
