This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap but preference goes to the Ruth Carr trained HOSTELRY (best priced at 9/1) who has been running consistently well this year and is now fitted with first time cheekpieces. The six-year-old has form figures of 2521323 in 2023 including a close 3rd last time over this course and distance when only beaten ½ length at the finish. 

The handicapper has raised Hostelry 1lb for that run but she gets to run here off her previous mark of 56 meaning she is 1lb “well in” at the weights and I am hoping she runs well under regular rider Alex Jary with four places widely available.

Both Liable and Seahouses are respected on their handicap debuts from big yards but preference instead goes to MISS CYNTHIA (best priced at 7/2) who ran well to finish 2nd a week ago. The Sir Mark Prescott trained three-year-old showed very little in four novice/maiden races before finishing 4th on her handicap debut when upped in trip to 1m4f at Leicester on her reappearance. She improved again for a step up to 1m6f last time when 2nd beaten only ½ length at Yarmouth off a mark of 71 and she should hold strong claims off the same mark.

The handicapper has raised Miss Cynthia 3lbs for that run but she runs instead off her previous mark of 71 meaning she is 3lbs “well in” at the weights and I expect her to prove hard to beat in this race.

The Joe Parr trained ROMAN DYNASTY (best priced at 3/1) ran well to finish 2nd at Yarmouth yesterday by a neck and he should be able to run this race off the same mark. The five-year-old has shown improved performances in cheekpieces on his previous three starts where he finished 2nd at Haydock off a mark of 65 before winning by five lengths at Nottingham a week ago off a mark of 66. He finished only a neck behind Monopolise yesterday but the pair pulled 1 ½ lengths clear of the 3rd and a repeat effort should be good enough to win this. 

Roman Dynasty once again runs from 4lbs “well in” at the weights under a 5lb penalty and should prove hard to beat under Becky Smith.
