UK Horse Racing Tips: Killarney

WATER NYMPH has had her fair share of chances to shed her maiden tag but may finally get her head in front now. Aidan O'Brien traditionally does very well with his runners at this meeting, so the daughter of Saxon Warrior has to be high on any potential shortlist. Golden Spangle is also well exposed in this grade but the experience attained by the Jim Bolger-trained filly will not have been lost on her. Paddy Twomey is a trainer whose maidens always deserve plenty of respect, so his newcomer Vain Gloria is another worth a close look in the market. The unraced daughter of Kodi Bear wouldn't need to be anything special in order to make a winning debut.

MOST WANTED should be good enough to win his maiden at the fourth time of asking. The Andrew Kinirons-trained gelding has finished third on all three starts to date, including over course and distance at the May meeting. The form of that latter race has been boosted by the runner-up in the interim. The Buratino gelding will get few better opportunities to get his head in front in maiden company. God Knows finished behind the Kinirons runner on her penultimate start, so has work to do if she is to overturn that form. However, that was just the second time Dick Brabazon's filly saw a racecourse and the daughter of Divine Prophet improved to finish second at Listowel last time. Believe In Science is a 14-race maiden but he has been placed on three occasions in races of a similar standard.

FINAL CHECK shaped well enough over 7f on her recent handicap debut at Cork to suggest she can win off this mark. The daughter of Expert Eye kept on steadily from over a furlong out to finish a never nearer fifth. Stepping up to a mile for the first time now, the half-sister to four black type horses should prove difficult to beat. Water Mint has a somewhat inconsistent profile at first glance but closer inspection reveals a preference for a mile with an ease in the ground. The Joseph Murphy-trained filly should get her optimum conditions here so has to be considered. Amemri has been a very consistent filly in this grade of late. The David Marnane-trained daughter of Time Test had a couple of these behind when winning at Limerick on her penultimate start.

STARTING MONDAY holds leading claims of recording a third career success for trainer Gillian Scott. The six-year-old has dropped back to a more realistic mark in recent months, having acquitted himself well off higher ratings in the past. He faced, what in hindsight was a very difficult task, when second to a subsequent Listed winner over course and distance last October. Church Mountain ran better than the bare form figure suggests when seventh at Leopardstown on his recent stable debut. Michael O'Callaghan may well have Galway as a target but the Pride Of Dubai gelding shouldn't be underestimated here. Course and distance winner Dragon Of Malta catches the eye with champion jockey Colin Keane booked for the ride.

SATIN can gain her second win now having looked slightly unlucky last time when a close up fourth in the Ulster Oaks at Down Royal. The Jessica Harrington-trained three-year-old was denied a clear run early in the straight but recovered well to stay on strongly close home. With the benefit of that experience to call upon, she should be capable of making her presence felt now. Aurifodina finished ahead of the Harrington filly when the pair met at Navan last month. Although Jim Bolger's representative will need to improve to confirm that form at these revised weights, she has plenty of handicap experience and is a battle hardened performer. Grecian Slipper has to concede weight all round but the Joseph O'Brien-trained four-year-old went close off a similar mark at Down Royal.

MORPH SPEED needs to prove his stamina at this trip but if doing so, the Joseph O'Brien-trained gelding looks by far the most likely winner. Successful over 1m6f at this track two years ago, that form received a huge boost when the runner-up won a Group 3 race on Champions Weekend on his next start. Since moving stables earlier this year, the seven-year-old has run well in similar races while hinting that a step up in trip might bring about further improvement. The son of Morpheus gets the chance to test that theory now. Cozone has yet to sparkle this season but Matthew Smith's gelding looked an unlucky loser in this race 12 months ago. With two starts already during the current campaign, he should be reaching his peak. Stablemate No Thanks is another proven stayer who should be involved at the business end.

Smart handicap hurdler BUDDY ONE should strip fitter now with the benefit of a recent reappearance run at Roscommon earlier this month. Although well beaten on that occasion, the Paul Gilligan-trained gelding should have come on from the run. His hurdles form from last season would be far superior to anything these rivals could muster, so it would be a surprise if he doesn't show vast improvement on this second outing on the flat. Plains Indian has improved again over jumps since last running in this grade. He will need to be at his best to beat the Gilligan horse but is a very capable performer on his day. Fermoyle remains a very lightly-raced sort who could be progressive. However, he will need to step up on anything he has done before if he is to gain a first career win.
