The improving MR KING looks the one to beat in this. He is by Kingman and improved again to open his account at Roscommon last time. I liked the way he knuckled down for pressure and he kept finding more in the closing stages to come out on top. The front pair were clear and the field was left trailing in behind well strung out.
He goes handicapping off a mark of 84 and that should prove to be lenient. Eastern Legend was third behind the selection on reappearance and then improved in defeat to finish fifth at Leopardstown beaten less than two lengths. That has already been franked since with the third Eastern Wind going in next time out so he could be the danger despite having ground to make up. Take Heart is also feared on reappearance.

The only last time out winner in the field PORTORO looks the one to beat here. That was a career best bolting up by nine lengths at Salisbury last week and even when hanging in the closing stages he powered clear. He is turned out quickly so needs to handle the turnaround but if he does then he is definitely the one to beat in a race that clearly lacks strength in depth.
Irv built on his reappearance run at Ripon to go close at Nottingham and if stepping forward again will be the danger. Star Of St James wasn’t disgraced when third at Carlisle and on old form could have a say but a bit to prove. Of the rest Codswallop has run well the last twice getting within two lengths of victory at Lingfield and then going close at Wolverhampton so also has a squeak.
