Steve Ryder is back with three tips from today's action.
14:55 Lingfield
All four runners have a chance in this 0-75 handicap but I feel the favourite OH SO GRAND (best priced at EVENS) should prove hard to beat on his handicap debut. The Simon & Ed Crisford trained three-year-old finished a close 4th on his debut at Chelmsford before getting off the mark at Bath on his next start. He won impressively under a penalty in a novice race at Wolverhampton last time by 6 ½ lengths when ridden by Harry Burns.
Oh So Grand runs here under a 6lb penalty but that means is 4lbs “well in” at the weights based on his new rating of 80 and he should prove hard to beat in this small field.
16:15 Bath
This looks a competitive 0-60 handicap but preference goes to THE COLA KID (best priced at 3/1) who comes into this race following a close 3rd placed finish over this course and distance. The Grace Harris trained six-year-old won by 1 ¾ lengths at Ffos Las earlier this month off a mark of 47 before finishing a close 4th at Chepstow on his next start.
The Cola Kid was only beaten ½ length in 3rd over this course and distance a week ago off a mark of 53 and he gets to run here off 1lb lower mark. The handicapper has given him a new rating of 54 so he runs here 2lbs “well in” at the weights and he should prove hard to beat with Connor Planas taking off a handy 5lbs.
17:25 Bath
Bailar Contigo is respected under a 6lb penalty but that means he is 3lbs wrong at the weights so I am willing to take a chance on THE CRAFTYMASTER (best priced at 11/1) on his handicap debut. The Roger Teal trained three-year-old hasn’t shown very much in his three career starts to date but those have come in maiden/novice races when sent off 25/1, 80/1 and 200/1.
The handicapper has given The Craftymaster an opening mark of 49 but crucially he is now fitted with first time cheekpieces for this race. George Rooke, who has ridden him on all three previous starts, retains the ride and he looks worth taking a chance on at the prices.
