I know she didn’t look the most straightforward but it was hard not to be impressed by SNAFIYA at Doncaster last week. She was making her debut for Alice Haynes and ran on strongly in the closing stages to ultimately win readily. She took it up with a couple of furlongs still to run and I liked how she went through the line. She remains open to further improvement and with soft ground ideal she should take a bit of beating with Christian Howarth taking off a handy 5lb too. Labalaba caught the eye on debut and then duly landed the odds winning at Ffos Las. This is tougher but he is going the right way so looks the danger. Of the rest Indivar shaped with promise when runner-up on debut but failed to build on that at Redcar so needs to bounce back.

With 2 wins from her last 3 PASTICHE should prove hard to beat here. She ran on well to win comfortably at Newmarket and the third Prepense won easily earlier in the week to frank the form. She is obviously open to further improvement after just the 4 starts and even with a 7lb rise may prove ahead of the assessor for a while yet. This won’t be easy mind as Terwada looks a colt with potential as well. He bolted up by 9 lengths at Nottingham and now handicapping could take another step forward. I was with Oliver Show when he beat Sandy Paradise at Kempton but he failed to back that up at Ascot albeit not disgraced and needs more to spring a surprise here. The other four look up against it and are hard to warm to in a good race.
