After a 9/2 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with two tips for today's action.
14:15 Pontefract
This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap but preference goes to Perfect Swiss (best priced at 7/1) who has a good record at the track. The Tim Easterby trained seven-year-old has form figures of 1312642 with his latest victory coming over this course and distance in September 2021 off a mark of 70. He struggled on his penultimate start at Wetherby in April but bounced back to form when 2nd by a short head over this course and distance 9 days ago off a mark of 66.
Perfect Swiss outran odds of 22/1 that day and despite running here off a 1lb higher mark, he should run well with up to four places available.
17:10 Pontefract
The David O’Meara trained Soul Seeker (best priced at 9/4) defied odds of 25/1 to win the “Jump Jockeys Nunthorpe” handicap yesterday and he should hold strong claims if turning out again quickly under a 5lb penalty. The six-year-old won the same race in 2021 off a mark of 83 and also won over this course and distance in August 2022 off a mark of 73. He was well handicapped to win yesterday off a mark of 66 and he should still prove well handicapped under a 5lb penalty.
Soul Seeker won yesterday in a first time tongue-tie and cheekpieces combination and hopefully that can mean that he follows up in this race today.
