Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
15:05 Ayr
Doon The Glen is expected to outrun his odds on handicap debut but he should struggle to beat See My Baby Jive (best priced at 9/4) who bids to complete a four-timer. The Donald Whillans trained seven-year-old is 3/3 since the application of blinkers with her victories coming over this course and distances off marks of 46, 49 and 53.
See My Baby Jive runs here under a 4lb penalty and she can hopefully extend her impressive win sequence in headgear.
15:55 Newton Abbot
This looks a competitive 0-120 handicap but preference goes to the consistent Lermoos Legend (best priced at 4/1) who is fitted in first time blinkers in this race. The Peter Bowen trained eight-year-old has been running consistently well recently with form figures of 52231 this year including 2nd placed efforts at Cartmel and Aintree off marks of 109 and a win at Worcester earlier this month off the same mark.
Lermoos Legend won by two lengths that day in his regular cheekpieces and it seems significant that connections now replace those with first time blinkers which will hopefully mean he jumps straighter than he did last time. The handicapper has raised him 4lbs up to a mark of 113 which is fair and he should run well once again.
17:52 Lingfield
Bailar Contigo is respected under a 6lb penalty bidding for a hat-trick of wins but preference instead goes to Storm Valley (best priced at 11/2) who is given another chance having been a beaten favourite on his handicap debut 18 days ago. The Andrew Balding trained filly had run with credit on her first three career starts in novice/maiden races but was notably strong in the market at Epsom on her handicap debut earlier this month. Sent off the 6/4 favourite that day, she made good headway to go 2nd 3f out but weakened entering the final furlong to finish 4th beaten 5 ¼ lengths.
Storm Valley now drops in trip to 1m1f off a 1lb lower mark and connections have also booked the services of Harry Davies to take off a handy 3lbs. She should prove better than a mark of 60 and I expect her to prove hard to beat.
