Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action, with runners at Goodwood, Beverley and Galway.
13:40 Goodwood
This looks a competitive 0-105 handicap but preference goes to LORD RIDDIFORD (best priced at 5/1) who has won the last two renewals of this race. The John Quinn trained eight-year-old is inconsistent but his only two victories in the last two years have come in this race. The gelding won it off a mark of 88 in 2021 before winning off a mark of 87 last year.
Lord Riddiford runs in the race this year off a mark of 84 so he is clearly well handicapped and looks worth taking a chance on to complete a hat-trick of wins in the race.
16:20 Beverley
Impressor is respected in his bid for a hat-trick under a 5lb penalty but I am willing to take a chance on the current outsider of the field SHERDIL (best priced at 12/1). The Paul Midgley trained four-year-old was a two-time course and distance winner last season off marks of 63 and he has now dropped down to a 1lb lower mark for the first time since.
Sherdil finished a nose 2nd over this course and distance in August last year off a mark of 71 so he is well handicapped off a mark of 62 and he looks worth backing each way in this race.
18:40 Galway
The Ado McGuinness trained SALTONSTALL (best priced at 18/1) is a two-time winner of this race and is now 1lb lower than his close 2nd in the Irish Lincoln earlier this season. The nine-year-old won this race off a mark of 89 in 2019 before following up the year after off a mark of 96. He finished 6th off a mark of 105 the year after before getting no run when 11th last year off a mark of 97.
Saltonstall runs in the race this year off a mark of 98 which is 1lb lower than when finishing a short head 2nd in the Irish Lincoln on his reappearance. He was only beaten 3 ½ lengths at Leopardstown last month off this mark under Adam Caffrey and hopefully he can record a third win in this race.
