13:50 Goodwood

A 6lb penalty will make things more difficult for the three-year-old Zaman Jemil and preference instead goes to MANY A STAR (best priced at 12/1) who has shown his best form at Goodwood. The Paul & Oliver Cole trained six-year-old has form figures of 312 at the track including a victory in this race last year off a mark of 85. He went on to finish a close 2nd on his next start over this course and distance off a mark of 87 and he looks well handicapped today off a mark of 83.

Many A Star has disappointed on his two starts so far this season but is now fitted with a first time tongue tie and hopefully that means he can bounce back to form.

The Alan King trained HMS PRESIDENT (best priced at 8/1) has taken his form to a new level since joining this yard and he can hopefully continue his progression in this race. The six-year-old joined from Eve Johnson Houghton rated 90 where he outran odds of 28/1 to finish 2nd on his stable debut at Kempton. He won at Newmarket on his next start off a mark of 93 over 1m6f before finishing a close 2nd at Royal Ascot in the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap off a mark of 96 back down to 1m4f.

This step back up in trip to 1m6f should suit HMS President well and despite running off a 5lb higher mark, he looks the solid each way option against the favourite Sweet William with up to five places available.

HMS President - 0.5pts e/w @ 8/1

As always, the Stewards’ Cup is a fiercely competitive handicap but I am willing to take a chance on SIGNIFICANTLY (best priced at 28/1) who should be suited by this step back up in trip to 6f. The five-year-old has shown good form on his three starts since joining Julie Camacho including when winning over 6f at Ascot on his penultimate start when fitted with first time cheekpieces.

That victory came off a mark of 87 and he ran well to finish 2nd at Ascot last time off a mark of 93 when just looking outpaced over 5f. The handicapper has raised him 1lb for that run but he instead runs here off the same mark so he is 1lb “well in” at the weights and he should run well with up to eight places available.

Significantly - 0.5pts e/w @ 28/1
