I have had my eye on MUDSKIPPER for a while now and despite only finishing fifth at Sandown last month he shaped a lot better than the bare result suggests. He was held up by William Buick but struggled to get a gap and once he did see a bit of daylight he just wasn’t going the pace to get involved. He kept on nicely in the closing stages and this step back up to a mile and a quarter should prove ideal. He makes his AW debut here and cheekpieces have also been applied for the first time which could help sharpen him up. A mark of 75 should prove lenient and hopefully he takes a step forward here. The danger is likely Fleur De Mer who improved to win at Wolverhampton last month and that form looks solid. Forest Demon also deserves a mention as he only went down half a length to an improver at Windsor.
