The likeable CROW’S NEST is expected to resume his progress here. He improved on an encouraging debut run to win impressively at Hamilton and then followed up dropping down to the minimum at Bath back in June. He was beaten back up to 6f at Newmarket last time but bumped into a decent yardstick and that form has worked out notably well since.

The runner-up Fierce and fifth Girl Magic both won next time out and the sixth Knebworth won at Haydock and York before finishing down the field at Windsor. The selection is still open to further improvement and this track should suit as well. He runs off the same mark and has plenty going for him. Swift Asset was finally back to winning ways at Bath last month and looks the obvious danger.

C&D winner HARRY’S HALO looks to have found a good opportunity to get back to winning ways here. He clearly needed his first start back following a wind op when down the field at Kempton but improved to go down less than a length at Chester last month and then again just bumped into one in the useful Hello Queen at Doncaster last time.

He is up 2lb for that but clearly looks back on the upgrade and I expect him to be hard to beat despite taking on his elders. Top weight International Girl might be the main danger as she wasn’t disgraced behind subsequent Stewards’ Cup winner Aberama Gold at York last time and will find this easier. Emperor Caradoc has been given a chance by the handicapper down another 2lb and he is another one to note.
