Glasses Up is respected under a 4lb penalty but preference instead goes to TAFSIR (best priced at 3/1) who was slightly unlucky not to complete a hat-trick of wins a week ago. The Jim Goldie trained four-year-old won over 1m4½f here in July off a mark of 47 before following up off a mark of 51 at Hamilton on her next start over 1m5f.

Tafsir was only beaten a length at Newcastle a week ago off a mark of 55 when not getting a clear run over 1m4½f when she was staying on well at the finish. This step up in trip to 1m6f looks sure to suit and she runs here 2lbs “well in” at the weights off the same mark of 55 in this race.

This looks a competitive 0-80 handicap but preference goes to LE BEAU GARCON (best priced at 4/1) who runs here from 3lbs “well in” at the weights. The Michael & David Easterby trained four-year-old has been running consistently well in recent months with form figures of 33462 with his best performance recently coming on Saturday when a nose 2nd over this course and distance off a mark of 74.

That run came in a first-time visor which seemed to benefit Le Beau Garcon and he is expected to prove hard to beat off the same mark despite a 3lb rise from the handicapper.

The Tom Tate trained EQUIANO SPRINGS (best priced at 10/3) has an excellent record at both Newmark tracks and he looks the one to beat at this venue once again. The nine-year-old has form figures of 118111801 across both Newmarket tracks including a course and distance success here 20 days ago off a mark of 79.

The handicapper has raised Equiano Springs 3lbs for that success up to a mark of 82 which is fair but connections have booked talented 3lb claimer Adam Farragher to negate that rise. Many of his rivals are struggling for recent form and he is expected to add a seventh success at Newmarket to his tally.
