The Richard Hannon trained ALWAYS FEARLESS (best priced at 10/3) runs here under a 5lb penalty for his latest success but he should hold strong claims of following up in this race. The six-year-old ran well at Wolverhampton in March to finish 2nd off a mark of 62 before winning last time at this course over a mile by 2 ¾ lengths giving Ben Pollard a winner on his first ride under rules.

The handicapper has raised Always Fearless 6lbs for that success over the favourite Gavi Di Gavi but he instead runs here under a 5lb penalty so he is 1lb “well in” at the weights and that should mean he proves hard to beat here. This step up in trip to 1m2f should suit him well and he can hopefully run well under 7lb claimer Tyrese Cameron.

SOMETHING NICE (best priced at 2/1) has twice finished a close 2nd off a mark of 86 in handicaps and he should be able to get back to winning ways in this race off the same mark. The Michael Mulvany trained three-year-old got off the mark in his career at Cork in April in a maiden by 4 ¼ lengths before finishing a ½ length 2nd off a mark of 86 at Naas on his handicap debut later that month. He struggled on his next start when dropped to 6f off a 3lb higher mark but bounced back over a mile last time to finish 2nd by ½ length at the Curragh off a mark of 86.

The handicapper has raised Something Nice 5lbs for that run but he instead runs off a mark of 86 once again meaning that he is 5lbs “well in” at the weights and he should prove hard to beat under Gary Carroll.

Arbaawi is respected following his recent Lingfield success but preference instead goes to EYESHADOW (best priced at 11/4) who failed to land a gamble on her handicap debut but should recoup those losses today dropped in trip. The Harry & Roger Charlton trained three-year-old ran with credit in three novice races before being sent off a well backed 5/4 favourite at Chepstow a month ago. She ran well to finish 3rd that day beaten only 2 ¾ lengths but faded in the final furlong having looked the most likely winner 2f out.

That run came over a mile so this drop to 7f should suit Eyeshadow and she should prove hard to beat off a 1lb lower mark in this race.

Thewaytothestarts is 5lb wrong at the weights under a 10lb penalty and I much prefer the chances of OBAMA ARMY (best priced at 3/1) who has run well in his latest three starts since the application of a visor. The Jack Channon trained three-year-old has been running consistently well in handicaps this season with form figures of 42212225221 and he put in a career best performance last time when victorious at Chepstow over a mile off a mark of 64.

Obama Army won by a head that day and the handicapper has only raised him 2lbs for that success up to a mark of 66. George Bass once again claims 3lbs off the gelding and he looks sure to be involved in the finish.
